A Little Bit About Me

I am a third-year undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis studying Psychological & Brain Sciences and Writing. I’ve been interested in writing since I was young, but it wasn’t until I entered college with a creative writing scholarship that I wanted to take a serious look at the writing and publishing industry. As a part of my scholarship, I’ve been able to speak with other writers, study fiction narratives, develop my poetry, and become proficient in screenwriting and playwriting. In fact, I am currently co-writing a play to be performed next year as a part of my university’s “Black Anthology”. Additionally, last year I was able to have my first humor piece published with the encouragement of my humor writing professor.

While I have been mainly focused on writing, publishing presents an exciting opportunity to help bring new stories to the public. When I had the chance to pursue an internship in publishing this summer, I found Alpha Book Publisher and saw it as a perfect opportunity to learn more about publishing, work with established professionals, and develop my writing skills. I’d like to learn more about trade books to see what it takes to bring familiar and beloved titles to general audiences. I also look forward to being a part of the editing process where I can use my experience collaborating with peers and mentors to help refine other author’s works.

In the future, I’d like to continue to work with various publishers and explore the many possibilities within the career. At the same time, my passion has always been fiction writing and I look forward to gaining more experience and eventually publishing a novel. Books have always brought me immense joy and I want to have a hand in bringing that to others, whether that be through writing or publishing.
