Aquila Polonica Publishing is an independent publisher specializing in publishing, in English, the Polish World War II experience—a part of World War II which is virtually unknown in the West.

This amazingly heroic and tragic story of one of the Western Allies was suppressed for decades by the Communist regime that was forced upon Poland after the war, as part of its strategy for controlling that country. Only since the fall of Communism in 1989 have the true facts begun to resurface.

Aquila Polonica means “Polish Eagle” in Latin, and is a registered trademark in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the twenty-seven CTM countries of the E.U. The company is based in Los Angeles, California, where its publisher—who has no Polish background—is located.

We are a member of the Association of American Publishers and of the Independent Book Publishers Association, and our books are distributed to the trade in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand by National Book Network, www.nbnbooks.com.

We spent the first three years of our existence acquiring rights to more than thirty books, including the entire backlist of one of the best known authors in this field, to give us a base for our catalogue. Our publishing program opened in the fall of 2009, on the 70th anniversary of the beginning of World War II, with The Mermaid and the Messerschmitt: War Through a Woman’s Eyes, 1939-1940, by Rulka Langer.

Despite being a relatively new company, Aquila Polonica is well on its way to establishing a reputation for quality. Every one of our books to date has won one or more awards. We have been reviewed in major media such as The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, The New Republic and Publishers Weekly. Our books have been chosen as Selections of the Book-of-the-Month Club, History Book Club and the Military Book Club; audio rights have been acquired by Audible.com and Brilliance. Translation rights for various titles have been acquired by foreign publishers in a number of countries.
