A Little Bit About Me
I graduated with a BS/BA in biological sciences and English, and I am interested in exploring the intersection between English language proficiency and scientific inquiry. I want to write stories and narrative poems that spark enthusiasm and interest in scientific concepts. These concepts range from the origin of the universe, the nature of consciousness, the culture of whales, vaccines, and more.
Pursuing an internship with Alpha Book Publisher will position me strongly to further my career in publishing as a copywriter, editor, publishing assistant, or author. I am interested in publishing a fictional book during my time at Alpha Book Publisher that underlines America’s literacy struggles, loneliness epidemic, and/or sufferers of communication disorders during my internship. This experience will boost my career prospects and provide me with stimulating work throughout the internship in learning more about the publishing process whether or not publishing opportunities present themselves to me following the internship.
I enjoy science fiction and popular science, and I can see myself contributing to the publishing industry as a children’s author, editor, or copywriter for a publishing company or agency that advances science literacy in the works it publishes.
I want to empower authors to inform, entertain, and captivate audiences to think critically about the defining issues of today and tomorrow through creative representations of scientific concepts by editing, marketing, or writing.
I have no prior experience writing or publishing beyond my high school and university education.
I have no writing or publishing achievements in my career as of yet. In my education, I received a medallion award in my junior year of high school for strong essay writing and class participation and was on the Dean’s Honor List twice in one-and-a-half years of English study at UC Irvine.
