A Little Bit About Me
I'm Anna Ferguson, and I'm a recent graduate from Texas A&M University, where I majored in English, minored in Spanish, and gained additional studies in literature and disability studies. The whole reason I chose English at A&M was because they offered specialized courses in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, YA Literature, and Children's Literature; All things I aspire to publish one day.
Since leading up to graduation, I have been hoping and praying for an internship with a smaller publishing company so that I can gain hands-on experience and direct guidance. Thus, an internship with Alpha Book Publishers sounds perfect! I hope to learn more about the industry, the general pipeline of book-making, how to make a best-seller, and how to help others achieve the same goal! I expect to get out of this as much as I put into it.
My favorite genres are Fantasy, middle-grade action-adventure, and some Sci-Fi and YA. But most of all, I am most passionate for Disabled Fantasy, a budding niche that aims to marry disability representation with magic! I myself have been working on my first novel, a Fantasy-Western whose main protagonist has Downs Syndrome! Delving into this overlooked subgenre, and inspiring others to follow suit, is my long-term career goal and life aspiration.
As I am fresh out of college, I possess more teachability and technical experience than work experience. I have taken numerous courses for both creative and analytical writing, so I am comfortable navigating diverse subjects of literature. I have also participated in many writing contests, which further instilled in me a keen eye for detail and taught me how to think like an editor/proofreader.
