Darya Jafarinejad - Intern

Devon Burton Intern at Alpha Book Publisher

A Little Bit About Me

Darya Jafarinejad is a second-year university student majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies at California State University, Long Beach. She particularly enjoys reading dystopian, feminist, and fantasy literature.

To her, both books and writing are tools with which to amplify underrepresented voices and stories in mainstream media, and so she is passionate about helping these stories be created and circulated through wider audiences. In fact, this is one of the reasons why she joined Alpha Publisher, in addition to her wanting to explore new opportunities and experiences.

So far, she has served as Lead Editor for an online magazine at her university for one year, and for two years, has been consistently publishing with other campus magazines as part of internships, even earning her a "Best Intern Award". During this time, she has experienced collaborating with diverse groups of people and thinkers, such as writers, editors, photographers, videographers, and more.

Her roles as both Writer and Editor have bolstered her joy of editing and inspired her to continue moving forward. They have also allowed her to learn from a variety of perspectives, improving her own writing, while also guiding other writers on their journey and watching them grow. Darya hopes to one day have a larger role in the publishing industry, where she can continue helping unheard voices shine for all audiences to see, hear, and learn from.
