Five Fine Art Publishers
Having a background in art, I know how important it is to find a good art publisher. There are a number of different publishers out there, and it can be a bit of a challenge finding one that will publish your work.
D.A.P.
Whether you're new to the world of imports or an experienced importer, you've probably heard of the Incoterms. These are a set of rules developed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to determine the rules of the road for international trade. They were first published in 1936, but have been updated and revised periodically. They are designed to be simple and concise to ensure that every transaction is smooth and efficient. They cover the main areas of responsibility of buyers and sellers. Among other things, these incoterms explain what's expected of each party, and what they should expect from the other.
The best example of an incoterm is the Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) model. In this model, the seller is responsible for all transport costs, including taxes, duties and insurance. In fact, the seller fixes a higher freight markup in order to compensate for the added liability. However, it's important to note that DDP is not a perfect fit for every shipment. For example, a seller may not be able to clear his cargo through customs in other countries. This can lead to delays at customs clearance. In addition, DDP is more costly than the less expensive D.A.P.
Somerset Fine Art
Among the myriad of fine art publishers out there, there are a few that stand out from the crowd. The most notable is the company, formerly known as the American Masters Foundation, now part of the larger Somerset House Publishing, Inc. They have an extensive dealer network, located across the country, and offer many notable artists for your viewing pleasure.
Probably the most impressive thing about this Texas-based publisher is their commitment to quality. Originally started as a foundation, it has acquired a number of leading names in the art world, including The Ashton Company, Frame House Gallery and most recently, the world's largest mirror manufacturer. In addition to their retail dealers, the company offers a selection of the finest in traditional American art. They've even partnered with Cross Creek Ranch, home to the upcoming Welcome Center, to bring their art to a new audience.
Several of the artists featured by the company are no strangers to the industry, including June Dudley, the world's most prolific watercolorist. In 2010, the company selected her to be their newest featured artist. As of this writing, the company is still in Fulshear, Texas, and the gallery is expected to open in early 2011. The company has also teamed up with Christ-Centered Art, an online art gallery that offers a wide selection of Christian art.
Lund Humphries
Founded in London in 1949 by British art collector EC Gregory, Lund Humphries is a leading publisher of illustrated art books. They publish works for students, professionals, and art specialists. They regularly work with galleries, artists, and foundations. They value high-quality design, accessible writing, and unique collections of reference material. Their list includes books on art markets, visual art, architecture, and design.
Lund Humphries art publishers recently announced their "Illuminating Women Artists" series. This series is a part of a larger movement to highlight the contributions of women in the visual arts. The volumes in this series will provide a new perspective on the lives of early modern women artists. The books will also offer a visual contextualization of their works. This new series will interweave established conclusions with new discoveries. The series is supported by an international advisory board. This is the first of six volumes.
Lund Humphries also continues its Contemporary Painters series, which was launched in 2014. This series of short books is a new initiative. It is edited by Barry Schwabsky and includes essays by art historians and critics from around the world. It is a valuable resource for those who are interested in the Gothic spirit of contemporary visual culture.
Abrams
Founded in 1949, ABRAMS has been a leading illustrated book publisher for more than sixty years. Its imprints include Abrams, Stewart, Tabori & Chang, and Image. It also distributes books for other publishers. It is a subsidiary of French publishing company La Martiniere Groupe.
One of the most successful and popular art books published by Abrams was The Art of Walt Disney. The book was a winner, earning a spot on the New York Times bestseller list.
The company was established by Harry N. Abrams, who moved to the United States with his parents in 1912. His first professional gig was as a non-salaried copywriter for an advertising agency, Schwab & Beatty. He went on to study at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design. Later, he became a designer for Harry Scherman.
He later began to use art reproductions for specially designed books. He also got record companies to use color art reproductions on the jackets of their records. He then persuaded the Western Electric Company and General Motors to buy art booklets.
The Abrams Company was sold to The Times Mirror Company of Los Angeles in 1966. At the time of his death, Mr. Abrams was head of the Abbeville Press. He retired in 1979.

The first title that the company published in 1950 was English Cathedrals, a book of photographs by Martin Hurlimann. It was published under the tagline,'see the arts through expert eyes.'
