A Little Bit About Me

I have a Bachelor’s degree in languages and Master’s degrees in Chinese and French. But I have loved reading since I was a little girl, and knowing other languages has given me the opportunity to learn about different styles of writing. In my teenage years, I fell in love with manga and anime, and that’s what I want to do: be an illustrator and manga artist. It’s a very simple style for young people. And I know that someday, my six languages will come in handy.

I took on this internship so that I can learn all about the publishing industry, and also get my foot in the door, pursuing a career as an illustrator and manga artist. I also wish to learn the entire process of writing a book and getting it published. I’m currently working on my own manga series; I just finished one volume, and I’ve started working on the second one. Also on the side, I’ve been working on writing and illustrating a children’s book. So, it’s very important that I learn about the whole process to get published.

As I mentioned before, I am very passionate about manga series. They are not complicated and very simple to understand, especially for young people. With the manga series that I am working on right now, I am trying to create a story that combines elements of fantasy and reality. It is a fantasy story with parts that touch on serious, real-life issues.

My goal is to write children’s books that are very diverse in culture, with illustrations that can reach out to the imaginations of everyone.

During my senior year of my Bachelor’s studies at Montclair State University, the language department held an essay writing contest for various languages, and I won first prize with my essay explaining the challenges of learning Arabic in the United States. There is no better way to explain life and feeling than the correct use of a language. Languages are an art that can reach everyone’s heart and mind, and inspire and help people in everyday life.

Besides winning first place with my Arabic essay, I haven’t won anything else. My hope is to win not an award, but the acceptance of my readers.
