A Little Bit About Me
My name is James Jackson. I am passionate about the art and literary world, specifically reading and writing. I have been writing for over three decades and have written dozens of poems and short stories. During my military career, I had the opportunity to assist with the editing, revision, and publication of multiple technical manuals. In addition, I served as the speech writer for various military officials as a member of the media and community relations team.
I am currently an English major at the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a focus on literature, journalism, and media. I also serve as a contributing writer and the publishing editor for the university’s literary and fine arts journal, Lyceum. In addition to writing, I am enthusiastic about editing and proofreading.
As a student, I frequently assist other students with their writing through the peer review process. I have assisted both graduate and doctoral students with editing their capstone and thesis projects. Through this process, I have continued to develop key literary skills, such as research, literary analysis, and close reading.
Outside of my writing endeavors, I am a health and fitness professional. I am a coach and athlete in the sports of CrossFit and Ninja Warrior. I also enjoy photography, rock climbing, and video editing.
I get close to graduation, April 2024, I am exploring how to combine my joy of writing and health and fitness into a fulfilling career. My goal is to help others obtain their dreams and goals.
