About the Country

Armenia is a country located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, bordered by Georgia to the north, Turkey to the west, Iran to the south, and Azerbaijan to the east. It also has a small border with Russia to the northeast. The capital and largest city is Yerevan. The population of Armenia is around 3 million people. The official language is Armenian.

Armenia has a rich cultural heritage and a long history, including periods of domination by various empires, such as the Roman, Byzantine, Persian, and Ottoman empires. In 1918, Armenia declared independence following the collapse of the Russian Empire, but it was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1922. It regained independence in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Armenia has a small, landlocked economy that is heavily dependent on Russia, its primary trade partner. The country has faced economic challenges in recent years, including high unemployment, poverty, and a large trade deficit. The government, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has been implementing economic reforms to diversify the economy and attract foreign investment.

Armenia has also been facing political challenges, including a long-standing conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which erupted in a war in 2020. The country has also been facing social challenges such as human rights abuses, corruption, and political polarization.

Armenia is also the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD and it's an important pilgrimage destination for the Armenian Apostolic Church.
