A Little Bit About Me
I am entering the final year of my bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Illinois Springfield. I am particularly interested in editing and publishing, as well as the impact the publishing industry has on how communities are viewed and represented.
I decided to pursue an internship with Alpha Book Publisher because I want to build more of a foundation in the practical and industry knowledge involved in publishing. Since I am interested in pursuing a career in publishing after I finish my degree. I expect the knowledge and experience I gain in this program to help me find a job post-graduation.
I am particularly interested in helping authors of under-represented communities publish their books, regardless of what genre those books are. I have prior writing experience both at my college and in more professional settings. I have worked as a content writer for a food blog, and as an editing and publishing intern at a small publishing company. Finally, I also volunteer as a proofreader with Distributed Proofreaders for the Gutenberg Project.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these experiences, and they have cemented my desire to work as an editor. I love helping people refine their writing and create a better piece of writing.
