Devon Burton Intern at Alpha Book Publisher

A Little Bit About Me

Attending a smaller private high school sparked my love for literature. Most of my English classes were smaller and allowed personal freedom for knowledgeable exploitation. From there I attended community college for an Associates Degree as an English major.

My passion for all things literature grew from my own private life and hobbies, however, my educational background on literature and etymology causes a desire to peruse the field permanently. My desire for knowledge and love for my current and previous educational background the publishing Industry was a clear path to embark on.

After researching more about the company through your website my interest was peaked enough to email for more information and an application process where I learned more about the company’s beliefs. As someone who to learn and to create I have an appreciation for like-minded individuals. In order to keep the world as an educated and open space it is important to give these principles to those who want to learn.

Alpha Book’s core beliefs of expanding the publishing world and making the learning process more accessible were something I admire. My base expectations are to learn more about the process of publishing along with the business side of the industry.

My main love is the Classics as they are what I study and read the most but my second love is fantasy. I enjoy any and all genres as long as the piece itself has merit. My original motivation for my interest in publishing was so I could find and help push out the next modern classic, although the simple pleasures of cozy books or high fantasy adventures are just as enjoyable to read.

Through my study of what made classics so influential I aspire to find the next generation of modern classics to bring a positive shift in the literary world through their change. Additionally, I would also like to work on popularizing modern study and reading by marketing more accessible books and poems.

I have been writing as a personal hobby for around ten years as a way to express myself and have had a previous publishing internship in 2023. Their influences have cemented my passion for literature and my aspirations in the field.
