A Little Bit About Me
Petrolla Kamfwa is a student at Virginia Tech studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics(PPE) with a minor in Psychology. Petrolla’s interests in writing tie back to her introduction to books in the first grade. As a young reader with a creative spirit she has always wanted to craft her own worlds that captivate others. Petrolla’s studies have encouraged her by allowing her to develop stronger critical thinking skills and practice writing.
Petrolla believes that to be a strong writer one must take great pleasure in reading as well. Her favorite books/series include the Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan, the Legend series by Marie Lu, and All about love by Bell Hooks. Petrolla’s favorite part of reading is characterization and plot development and Petrolla’s favorite genres to read include fantasy and dystopian.
Petrolla’s most recent experience in publishing has been co-founding a magazine at her university with her friend. This experience has allowed her to take on a leadership role within a field that she is passionate about. During this experience she explores different mediums such as photography and graphic design and is able to fully incorporate her creative ability. Petrolla’s main goal in her creative pursuit is to be authentic and have people feel connected to her work.
