In the film industry, the credit for a screenplay generally goes to the person or people who wrote the script. This is usually the screenwriter or screenwriters. In some cases, however, other individuals may also be credited as co-writers or contributing writers if they made significant contributions to the script. For example, a director or producer may be credited as a co-writer if they made substantial changes to the script or contributed significantly to the story. In television, the credit for a screenplay may also go to the showrunner or creator of the series, as well as to the individual writers who contributed to a particular episode.
